Dwyer Literacy Program


All students will meet/exceed achievement level as measured by Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.



Implement a results-oriented literacy program to raise achievement level of all students which:

  • aligns with current CCSS standards
  • matches current research
  • institutes best practices
  • applies state-adopted, research-based literacy interventions to help struggling students gain success

Dwyer offers a variety of electives at each grade level. Sixth graders take 1 semester electives and 1 semester science. Seventh and 8th graders take a full year elective, which can be 2 semester electives or 1 year-long elective. Some students will not take an elective if they are academically behind their grade level. An intervention class in math or language arts may be substituted for the elective.
